Wat-er You Drinking?
Background
For this project we were given the task to find some way to create, safe, drinkable water. The basis of the project was to find a way to clean, collect, or provide the water theoretically to a group of people that may not have constant or clean access to water where they live. We then had to figure out the chemistry behind the process that we were using to clean our water.
Our Project
For my groups project, we decided to create an at home desalination chamber. After lost of tweaking our design we settled on using a regular kitchen pot with a cup on the inside to catch the water that condensed on the lid which then fell into the cup. The chemistry behind out project was pretty simple. As the water molecules heated and evaporated, any heavy metals or minerals in the water would be left behind. When the water vapor rose and hit the lid it cooled and condensed because of the ice on the other side. The water that then collected was free of any heavy metals and minerals. This process oh heating the water up should also kill harmful bacteria. Below is our presentation that provides more information and content.

Content
Water Desalination: The process in where you remove the salt from salt water, making it safe to drink.
Evaporation: Evaporation is a type of vaporization that occurs on the surface of a liquid as it changes into the gas phase.
Saturation: The state or process that occurs when no more of something can be absorbed, combined with, or added.
Reflection
This project was very interesting. It was basic and fairly simple to set up and do. The only problem that we faced was rate at which we got things done. Our group had a slow start but in the end was able to pull it together. This project also fell during CASSP testing which meant that two of our members were out for a week. In all this project was pretty fan and simple.
